Dept. of Botany was established in 1949. The Dept. introduced honours course in Botany in 1983 and honours course in Biotechnology in 2006. At present the has 8 (eight) laboratories with modern facilities like tissue culture lab, microbiology lab, molecular biology lab and biochemistry lab etc. The department has establishes an institutional biotech hub in 2010.
